● Meeting hall construction update as of March 22, 2012


1. The offsite work on the power station and pole relocation is proceeding according to schedule.
2. The 6-ft. baptismal tub has arrived and is now being installed.
3. We have decided on installing an island counter in the kitchen for food preparation and service.
4. Painting is almost done in the main sanctuary. Doors and window glazing will be installed next.
5. The elevator company has raised an issue regarding the location of the machine room. Final
    decision will be made this week.

                     Attached are a photo and a short video clip, taken on 
                     March 22, 2012, showing the exterior of the meeting hall.



                             This photo, taken on March 23, shows the west section of the 
                           main sanctuary. Painting has been done, and 8 diffusers for
HVAC have been installed on the ceiling.

● Meeting hall construction update as of March 15, 2012


1. A site meeting was held on March 15 to discuss the work progress.
2. The offsite contractor has started work on the BC Hydro power installation, pole location, and street
    lamp placement.
3. Seven lamp standards have been installed at the parking lot. Paving stones will be installed in the coming weeks.
4. The City has signed and approved the insulation and drywall components of the building.
5. Final inspection on the roof membrane will be done next week and the building envelope consultant will sign this off.
6. The main sanctuary is being painted. Next, the lighting, HVAC diffusers, and sound system will be installed.
7. We have decided to proceed with the installation of acoustic wall panels for controlling reverberation in the main sanctuary. The cost of the panels is $20K.
8. We have decided to order 700 chairs for the main sanctuary, and about 6-8 weeks’ lead time is needed for delivery. The cost of the chairs is $33K.
9. We need to pray more intensely for the building to be finished on time and for all exterior and interior furnishings to be ready for use by the turnover date.
10. May the Lord bless us richly in all the physical needs and energize us in gospel preaching an be  shepherding.

● Meeting hall construction update as of March 2, 2012:

  1. Insulation and drywall are still being installed in the rooms on the ground floor and second floor. This portion of the work is expected to be completed by the end of March.
  2. The walls of main meeting hall (sanctuary) are being sealed in preparation for painting.
  3. Next week, the offsite contractor will do the groundwork for BC Hydro to run the conduits for power lines and to relocate the electric pole. 
  4. The decision has been made fort he Hydro power lines to run beneath the grass-covered strip, so the sidewalk does not have to be entirely removed and replaced, except for a small section. The driveway, however, has to be taken out and repaved later.
  5. Mechanical and electrical roughing-in will take another month to finish.
  6. Work on the ceiling is scheduled after all the ductwork and electrical wiring are finished.

● Meeting hall construction update as of February 24, 2012:


  1. Work on insulation materials and gypsum wall boards is 60% accomplished.
  2. The sanctuary space is now being prepared for painting, sound and lighting fixtures, air diffusers, and acoustic ceiling clouds.
  3. Doors to the front lobby and entrance lobby have been installed. Automatic door closers and security sensors will be added later.
  4. Plumbing and fixtures for the washrooms and the baptismal tub and shower rooms are in progress.
  5. The driving aisles on the parking lot have been paved with asphalt. The parking spaces will next be lined with permeable pavers.

● Meeting hall construction update as of February 17, 2012:


1.           Work has begun on the elevator. It will take 40 days to complete the Installation.
2.           BC Hydro has obtained approved drawings from the City. Work on relocation of the electric pole
               and power supply installation will soon begin.
3.           Form work is in progress for cast-in-place concrete curbs at the perimeter and center of the
              parking lot. Then pavers will be installed. 
4.           Interior work for floor, wall, door, and other finishes, exhaust for the kitchen, and plumbing for
               the baptistery tub and shower stalls are in progress.
5.           Guardrails will be required for the front patio per building code requirement.
6.           Photo on the right is a view of the main hall looking west towards the central lobby and upper
               floor. Gypsum boards have been installed on the ceiling and walls.

● Meeting hall construction update as of February 9, 2012


  1. We will have a site meeting on Monday, Feb 13 to discuss the latest work progress and details.
  2. The exterior doors are being installed. The security company has begun wiring for security, monitoring, and alarm equipment.
  3. Drywall gypsum boards are now being installed in all the rooms.
  4. Backing supports for audio and future video equipment have been installed.
  5. Audio equipment wiring materials ordered through the electrical contractor have arrived in time for installing in the building.

● Meeting hall construction update as of February 01, 2012



  1. The gas connection and meter installation have been done by Fortis BC
  2. We are working on the cabling and wiring for audio-visual and security/monitoring alarm systems.
  3. Fiberglass insulation is being installed on the perimeter walls.
  4. After all duct works, plumbing, and electrical wiring behind the walls are completed, the gypsum boards will be installed starting on Feb. 6.
